Prickly Bloom

Paper hat (existing in a Tyvek version as well). A basic paper module repeats its shape to unfold slowly in crystal shape. A necklace growing to create a hat. Paper is a material that can mutate and evolve from simplicity to complexity; a material suitable to create three-dimensional shapes. This generated the idea of using an origami module. Prickly bloom is a tyvec hat created and realized by Elena Salmistraro for the design studio Deepdesign of Mlan, in occasion of the show “l’anima sensibile delle cose” held in Triennale of Milan 2009 (Viale Alemagna 6) curated by Cristina Morozzi.
