Barbaro
for Vimar
2026
On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, within 230 Volt-i, the installation conceived by Giulio Iacchetti for Vimar at Superstudio Maxi Barona, a face inspired by the imagery of a magical creature takes shape, suspended between ancestral presence and contemporary figure.
The cover plate from the Plana wiring accessories collection becomes the starting point for an intervention that transforms an everyday object into a small expressive entity, almost ritualistic in nature. In this case, the switches are reinterpreted as the teeth of the creature, becoming defining features of a mask that is at once ironic and mysterious, capable of evoking fantastical worlds and primitive memories.
A functional and serial object thus loses its invisibility to become a narrative presence: a small domestic being that observes, communicates, and brings emotion back into the space.
