Bonnet
Mirror for Houtique
2019
The bonnet is an almost forgotten shape of the once very fashionable hat for women and children. Its main feature is a visor that frames the face, in contrast with the close-fitting cap. This very element was the input that generated this unique and characterful mirror. The main component is a rhomboid-shaped mirror, which is framed by two large resin wings. Much as if the object were a painting, the wings translate the concept of a visor into the designer’s aesthetics. As in a painting, the general composition is balanced by the use of complementary details, such as the remarkable front belt and the large band which stabilizes the rear position. A result is a sculptural object, that hints to the past while being extremely contemporary in its essence.
